The first thing to say is that if you really want a ringtone without any hassle, it's probably best in the long run to buy them from a reputable company. That said, if you're set on getting your ringtones for free, or you don't have much money, then here are a few tips as to how to get your free ringtones.
Many websites will offer you a free ringtone just for looking at their webpage, or if you take advantage of a special promotion that they're running at the time. This is a perfectly legal practice and so it's always something you can take advantage of. We've looked at a few of these in our "Ringtones" blog (see link below) and with these it's just a question of seeing if you want to have what they're offering and take the ringtone!
Some dating sites will offer you free ringtones and downloads if you join. Since registering as a member with these dating sites is usually free, at least for a period of time, you will be getting that ringtone AND the service that goes with it, all for free. PLUS you might also meet the girl or boy of your dreams and have some fun!
You have to exercise some care when taking up free ringtone offers. In the past, some dodgy operators have set up websites which lure people in with promises of free ringtones and other stuff, only so that they can install spyware into people's phones or computers and rip them off. There was some legal action a while ago about this, and several of these sites were ordered to shut down, but some may still be out there. Google search has a feature where they warn you of the possibility that a site may damage your computer.
We're sure that the sites we show on our blog are to be trusted, as they are reputable firms, giving away free ringtones as a way of advertising themselves and their products, so they are not likely to scam you. But even so, you should make sure you trust them before going ahead.
Another way to get free ringtones is to purchase a software package that enables you to make your own ringtones. You can make an unlimited number of them like this, so in effect it's free, even if you have to pay for the software. There are many cheap ones available, again from trustworthy companies. The advantage of this method is that you can customize your ringtones.
